The below post explains the end to end process of software updates management in SCCM 2012 Pre-requisites: 1.  WSUS Server (WSUS 3.0 SP2 ) should be installed on the SCCM site server or if you want to install WSUS on another server, it is important that you install WSUS administration console as the SCCM Server uses API. Configure Site Boundaries-Post SCCM Installation -Configuration Task 2


Site Boundaries-Definition:
SCCM Site Boundary is defined scope to get the machines within its range. Computers are assigned as clients to Configuration Manager 2007 sites according to the boundaries defined in the SCCM Server. There are 4 types of boundaries in SCCM 2007:
  • AD site- based on Active directory sites.
  • IP subnet-based on IP subnets available on the network.
  • IPv6 Prefix-IPV6
  • IP range-we can add specific ranges instead of defining entire IP Subnet.

Important Note: Super netting is not supported by SCCM 2007. Use IP ranges to minimize the impact of using Super netting in the environment.

To add a boundary:

  1. In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database / Site Management / <site code> – <site name> / Site Settings / Boundaries. Click New Boundary.

  1. On the New Boundary properties page, enter the following information:
          Description : Provide a description of the boundary
          Site Code: Select the available sites from the dropdown menu.
          Type: Select the appropriate boundary here.

  1. Select the network connection type, either Slow or unreliable or Fast (LAN).

4. Here, I am using AD Site as the boundary. 

Select AD Site, click on browse and select the available site in the “Browse AD sites”

Consistency validation for SQL Server registry keys failed error -SQL for SCCM

During installation of SQL server, "Consistency validation for SQL Server registry keys failed” error pops up in the below scenarios. 1.   Previous installation of SQL exists. 2.   Inappropriate permissions on the registry keys of Microsoft SQL server.
