WSUS Server (WSUS 3.0 SP2 ) should be installed on the SCCM site server or if you want to install WSUS on another server, it is important that you install WSUS administration console as the SCCM Server uses API. several pre-requisites for installing SCCM 2007 Client successfully. The
software version numbers listed here are minimum version numbers only.
I have made a list of Pre-requisites that needs to be checked to have a successful client deployment.
3. Microsoft Background Intelligent
Transfer Service (BITS) version 2.5
BITS is used for bandwidth throttling
purpose, there will also be a BITS service on the system.
Follow the steps in this link to determine the version
of BITS
Note:
- On computers running Windows 2000, BITS version 2.0 will be installed.
- When BITS is installed on client computers, a restart is generally required. If BITS is being installed during client installation (by CCMSetup.exe), then the client installation is not completed until the computer is restarted. For this reason, it is recommended that you pre-deploy BITS on client computers before you install the Configuration Manager 2007 client.
4.Windows

Required to support the use of Windows
Installer update (.msp) files for packages and software updates
Follow the steps in this link to check the Windows
Installer version.
If it is lesser version, download the
Windows Installer from Microsoft download site.
5. Windows Update Agent version
7.0.6000.363-
Required by Windows to support update
detection and deployment.

6. Microsoft Core XML Services (MSXML)
version 6.0.3883.0
It is required to support the processing of
XML documents in Windows.
Follow the steps in this link to check MSXML
Version.
If MSXML is not installed on the client
machine, it will automatically download from site server and install it during
the SCCM client agent installation.
7. Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI)
Redistributable Components version 5.2.3790.1830
WMI components required by Windows 2000
Service Pack 4 computers.
8. Microsoft Remote Differential Compression
(RDC)
It optimizes data transmission over the
network. RDC is also used to generate package signatures and perform signature
comparison.
